Things You Don’t Need to Apologize For

For all of my fellow over-apologizers out there, here’s a gentle reminder that you don’t have to apologize for everything.

If you’re someone who feels like they need to say they’re sorry for ANY AND EVERYTHING in order to keep the peace or be liked, then I hope this is helpful.

Sometimes it can feel more comfortable to just apologize and take onus of something that really isn’t yours to own, especially if we don’t actually have to apologize.

You don’t need to be sorry for taking time for yourself or setting a boundary or having emotions.

We should always be respectful but that doesn’t mean we also need to apologize.

Here are some things that you don’t need to be sorry for:

  • Being who you are

  • Taking time for yourself

  • When you could say ‘thank you’ instead

  • Following your dreams

  • Saying ‘no’

  • Other people

  • Your priorities

There’s always nuance when it comes to an apology but it is important to remember that not everything warrants one.
